Overview

In cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Association has formulated the Guidelines to Facilitate Private Rental Residence Occupancy by Non-Japanese Nationals, the Guide to Looking for a Home (in 12 languages), the Guide to Rental Residence Occupancy by Non-Japanese Nationals, and Foreign-Language Service Stickers.

In addition to content such as points to note and questions and answers regarding occupancy of rental residences by non-Japanese nationals, for which demand is growing from year to year, the Guidelines to Facilitate Private Rental Residence Occupancy by Non-Japanese Nationals include other useful features such as check sheets on preferred occupancy conditions and templates for various forms, in 14 languages in total (Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Nepalese, Thai, Indonesian, Myanmar, Cambodian, Tagalog, and Mongolian).

The Guide to Looking for a Home contains useful information on subjects such as necessary procedures, contractual flows, and real-estate terminology for use when looking for a place to live in Japan, in 12 languages in total (Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, Indonesian, Myanmar, Cambodian, Tagalog, and Mongolian). All of these can be used by pointing at the relevant passages, and since they also explain rules on living in rental housing, they can help prevent problems with neighbors as well.

The Guide to Rental Residence Occupancy by Non-Japanese Nationals covers topics including basic information that non-Japanese nationals can use when looking for a place to live in Japan and the websites of real-estate agents that provide services in foreign languages.

The Foreign-Language Service Stickers are intended for use by real-estate agents servicing non-Japanese nationals. They show which languages are available. They have been designed so that agents can affix balloon-shaped stickers showing the languages spoken in the office to the stickers and post them in their offices or elsewhere. The blank balloons can be filled out freely by agents to show other languages available, notes for non-Japanese customers, or other information.
